When I think about the word “Create,” I think of community. We cannot create in a vacuum. My husband and I watch a lot of behind the scenes extras on BluRays. The best, frankly, are done by Peter Jackson. His attention to detail is phenomenal. And he documented all of it. But what comes up to this writer again and again is the clear necessity of collaboration. We need others to rub up against our ideas. There is no creating without community.
Even my baking requires people to eat the baked goods I bake. Without people to enjoy them, they actually hold no purpose. Why spend five hours on a cake if it just sits there unenjoyed? So it is with our lives. God didn’t create us and put us in our communities, give us our gifts and our people for us to sit and be pretty. He meant for our lives to be shared and enjoyed, like cake. He meant for us to be poured out, like a bottle of wine.
There is nothing quite like a layered cake. Elegance. Taste. The knowledge that it was handcrafted with love. So it is with you. You are designed by a master Creator for purpose. You have been offered to the world with love. You can make a difference right where you are with the people in your life. There is no one else who can do what you do.
STOP. This week’s Five Minute Friday post is in response to the prompt CREATE
